Celebration of Alexander Birth Anniversary (14th September)

The Department of Geography, Dattajirao Kadam Arts, Science & Commerce College, Ichalkaranji, celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Alexander von Humboldt on 17th September 2025. Dr. Govardhan S. Ubale, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Geography, Vivekanand College, Kolhapur, delivered an insightful lecture on the topic “Contribution of Alexander von Humboldt in Geography.” The program highlighted Humboldt's significant contributions to modern geography, physical geography, environmental studies, and scientific exploration. The lecture enhanced students' understanding of the relationship between nature and human life and encouraged scientific thinking and environmental awareness. A total of 11 teachers and 53 students benefited from the program. The initiative inspired students to recognize the importance of geography in understanding and addressing contemporary environmental challenges.

Celebration of Ozone Day - Tree Plantation Program (16th September)

The Department of Geography, Dattajirao Kadam Arts, Science & Commerce College, Ichalkaranji, organized a Tree Plantation Program on the occasion of World Ozone Day (16 September 2025) at Siddheshwar Mal, Male. The program aimed to create awareness about the importance of ozone layer protection, environmental conservation, and maintaining ecological balance. Teachers and students actively participated in planting saplings and learned about the role of trees in improving air quality, conserving biodiversity, and reducing environmental degradation. A total of 04 teachers and 19 students participated in this program. The activity promoted environmental consciousness and encouraged participants to take responsibility for building a greener and more sustainable future.

Celebration of World Equinox Day (23rd September)

The Department of Geography, Dattajirao Kadam Arts, Science & Commerce College, Ichalkaranji, celebrated World Equinox Day on 24th September 2025 by organizing a guest lecture on “Equinoxes and Its Impact on Human Being.” Dr. Sudhir D. Ingale, Ex. I/c Principal and HOD, Department of Geography, Mudhoji College, Phaltan, delivered an informative lecture on the concept and significance of equinoxes. The program highlighted the Earth–Sun relationship, the phenomenon of equal day and night, and the impact of equinoxes on climate, agriculture, and human life. The lecture enhanced students' scientific awareness and understanding of astronomical phenomena, encouraging them to apply geographical knowledge in real-life contexts. A total of 07 teachers and 47 students benefited from the program.

Organized Tourism Survey

The Department of Geography, Dattajirao Kadam Arts, Science & Commerce College, Ichalkaranji conducted a Tourism Survey at Khidrapur, Taluka Shirol, District Kolhapur on 23rd December 2025. A total of 2 teachers and 15 students participated in the activity. The survey focused on studying the tourism potential, available facilities, infrastructure, tourist behavior, and local issues related to Kopeshwar Temple. Students collected primary data through field observation and interaction with visitors and local people. The activity enhanced students' practical knowledge of geographical survey methods, field data collection, and data analysis skills.

Patil delivered the lecture, highlighting the significance of geography in understanding the Earth, human life, environmental issues, and natural phenomena. The session also emphasized the role of geography in addressing real-world challenges such as climate change, disaster management, and sustainable development. The programme enhanced students’ geographical and environmental awareness and encouraged them to develop analytical, spatial, and map-reading skills.

Organized One Day State Level Workshop on 'Application of Drone & DGPS Surveying in Geography'

On Monday, January 19, 2026, a one-day state-level workshop on "Application of Drone & DGPS Surveying in Geography" was organized by the Geography departments of Dattajirao Kadam Arts, Science and Commerce College and Night College of Arts and Commerce, Ichalkaranji, under a mutual MoU. Inaugurated by Chief Guest Pooja Naik Nimbalkar of Tara Mitra Drone Academy and chaired by Principal Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Khade, the workshop featured three key technical sessions. The first two sessions provided detailed guidance on drone applications, pilot licensing, and DGPS technology, led by expert instructors Pooja and Parnavi Naik Nimbalkar. This was followed by a live, hands-on drone training demonstration in the third session. The event concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony for the large number of participating professors and students, led by local academic dignitaries.

Organized One Day Lead College Workshop on 'Use of Geo-spatial Techniques in Geography'

On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a one-day lead college workshop on "Use of Geospatial Techniques in Geography" was organized by the Geography department at Dattajirao Kadam Arts, Science and Commerce College, Ichalkaranji, under Shivaji University's lead scheme. Inaugurated by Principal Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Khade, the event featured two primary technical sessions. The first session, led by Dr. Nilesh Susware, focused on drone applications and licensing, while the second session, conducted by Mr. Aniruddha Kapoor from Hexagon, Pune, detailed modern surveying using DGPS technology. The workshop concluded successfully with a certificate distribution ceremony for the large number of participating professors and students.

Organized Study Tour for B.A.III

From February 15 to February 18, 2026, a four-day Study Tour was organized by the Department of Geography at Dattajirao Kadam Arts, Science & Commerce College, Ichalkaranji. A group of 2 teachers and 15 students visited major cultural, religious, and geographical destinations, including Gokarna, Murdeshwar, Udupi, Dharmasthala, Mysore, and Shravanabelagola. The educational tour successfully provided students with hands-on, practical exposure to diverse physical landscapes and heritage sites, significantly improving their field-study skills and overall understanding of applied geography.

Organized One Day National Level Workshop on 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools & Techniques for Research Excellence'

On Sunday, April 5, 2026, a one-day national workshop on "Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools & Techniques for Research Excellence" was jointly organized by Vivekanand College, Dattajirao Kadam College, Gopal Krishna Gokhale College, and Shri Vijaysinha Yadav College. The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. S.P. Thorat and presided over by Principal Dr. C.B. Patil. Across three comprehensive technical sessions, Dr. Sadiq Bachha guided participants on AI tools for research, Dr. Virendra R. Nagarale discussed standard research practices, and Dr. Sudhakar D. Pardeshi provided a practical demonstration on geographical surveying using the ODK mobile application. The successful event wrapped up with a certificate distribution ceremony for the large number of participating faculty members and students.
