Vision of the Department  

The Vision of the Department is to promote the department as a centre for academic excellence through teaching and to cultivate literary skills, language proficiency and critical thinking into students for making them fit for glocal market.

Mission of the Department

The Mission of the Department is to extend career-oriented graduate programme imparting employability skills, soft skills and professional awareness as well as to inculcate ethical values. The Department will try to provide learning opportunities through experiential, participatory and extension activities through the Thrust Areas like Partition literatures in English, Literature and Cinema, Adaptation Theory, Translation Studies, Literary Theories, Language and Linguistics, different major and minor forms of English Literature and Interdisciplinary Studies. The Department uses innovative and technological advancements for the pedagogies.

  GOALS

• To make the graduates to develop language skills and build vocabulary for effective communication and employability.
• To enable the graduates to interpret, analyse and evaluate different varieties of written and spoken English.
• To make the graduates to recognize literary developments of English literature in the form of artistic, historic and cultural expressions beyond the nations and beyond the linguistic boundaries.
• To make the graduates to comprehend major movements and ‘-isms’ and trends in English literature.
• To turn out the graduates to sensitize towards cultivation of values and principles from literature to personal life.
• To make the graduates to perceive the jobs such as Translators, Teachers, Editorial Assistant, Lexicographer, Journalist, Proof Reader, Web Content Manager, Digital Copywriter, Social Media Manager, Public Relations Manager
