About Department

 

          The Department of Geography was established on 15th June 1962. Presently, Geography is taught as an optional subject for the B.A. course. The department is enriched with different types of teaching and learning equipment. The admissions and results of the department are better every year. The department organizes various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as study tours, fieldworks, industrial visits, project work regularly to encourage innovative and analytical approaches among the students. Guest lectures of eminent personalities are organized on various topics. The faculty provides special guidance for various types of competitive exams. The Department of Geography runs a short-term career-oriented course like “Certificate Course in Travel & Tourism” for B.A. Part-III students. The department has entered MoUs with other HEIs for student enrichment. Currently, the department is well equipped laboratory with different types of teaching and learning sources, survey instruments, and maps to provide an effective learning environment to students. The department also encourages and facilitates scholars to follow their career in higher studies and academic integrity in the field of geography.

          The department will continue to build its reputation through knowledge, research and skills for mapping science, earth science, environmental analysis, planning and all over development of students. 


MISSION

          Enlightening students to understand the processes, dynamics and outcomes of interactions of the earth's physical and human environments and its subsystems with changing time and space. 


GOALS
  1. To provide a learning environment and research-based education to graduate students. 
  2. To provide advancement of knowledge for becoming well-informed global citizens and serving our communities, from local to global. 
  3. To create a knowledge community of students by providing geography insights to find solutions for addressing environmental and other geographically oriented issues. 
  4. To facilitate the new technology, practical training, field study and research work to the students for making skilled human resources.
