A guest lecture on “Albert Einstein: Life and Legacy” was organized at our college on 5th July 2025 with the objective of providing students and faculty members an opportunity to interact with an eminent academician and gain insights into the life, contributions, and legacy of one of the greatest scientists of the modern era. The programme commenced with a formal welcome to Dr. Siba Prasad Das, the invited expert, by Dr. Sagar Sir. This was followed by an introduction of Dr. Das by Dr. Ganbavle Sir, who highlighted his academic and professional achievements and introduced him to the audience. Dr. Siba Prasad Das delivered an informative and engaging expert lecture on Albert Einstein, his scientific journey, major contributions, and lasting legacy. His presentation provided the students with valuable academic insights and encouraged them to appreciate the historical and scientific development of modern physics. During the session, Dr. Das also interacted with the students and responded to their queries, making the lecture highly engaging and informative. Following the lecture, Dr. Das shared his academic and professional experiences from different countries with the faculty members. The interaction provided an enriching opportunity for faculty members to exchange ideas and learn from his international academic experiences. The guest lecture was a valuable academic activity that broadened the students’ understanding of the scientific contributions and legacy of Albert Einstein. It also provided meaningful interaction between the students, faculty members, and the invited expert. The programme concluded on a positive and inspiring note, with appreciation expressed to Dr. Siba Prasad Das for his valuable time, expertise, and guidance.

On the occasion of Teachers' Day, four B. Sc. III year students conducted mock teaching sessions for B. Sc. I and B. Sc. II (Minor) students. This event was organized to foster peer learning, leadership skills and pedagogical practice among senior students. The senior students effectively engaged the juniors through discussions, examples, and questions, encouraging active participation. The topics were well-prepared and covered key concepts relevant to the B. Sc. I and II curriculum. Junior students appreciated the teaching methods and found the sessions helpful for their understanding of the subjects. The mock teaching enhanced the presentation and communication skills of the B. Sc. III students. The event was a successful learning experience for both the senior and junior students. It not only celebrated Teachers' Day but also emphasized the importance of peer learning in academic development. The efforts of the B. Sc. III students were commendable, and such initiatives will continue to be encouraged for holistic learning.

The Department of Physics organized seminars for B. Sc. III students during Semester V of the academic year 2025-2026. A total of 09 students delivered presentations on topics of their choice, each lasting 30 minutes. All students selected unique topics and confidently presented lectures on subjects from the academic syllabus, such as Classical Mechanics, Mathematical Physics, Digital Electronics, Quantum Mechanics and Atoms, Molecules and Astrophysics. This seminar activity aims to enhance students' confidence, improve their teaching skills and provide valuable teaching experience. The seminar activity proved to be a valuable learning experience for B.Sc. III Physics students, contributing to both their personal and academic growth. The initiative succeeded in fostering a supportive environment for public speaking, critical thinking and peer learning. The department plans to continue organizing similar activities to further enhance students' skills and confidence in future semesters.

The Department of Physics successfully organized an Alumni Interaction Program for B.Sc. I, II- and III-year students. The objective of the program was to provide academic guidance, career awareness, and motivation through interaction with recent alumni. A total of 9 alumni from the B. Sc. III Physics batch (Academic Year 202420-25) participated in the program. The alumni were Miss. Anushka, Miss. Dipti, Miss. Kulsum, Miss. Madhura, Mr. Pawan, Miss. Tejswini, Mr. Omkar, Miss. Sumati and Miss. Aditi. They shared their academic experiences, preparation strategies, challenges faced during graduation and insights about higher education and career opportunities in physics and related fields. The program witnessed active participation from 21 students across B.Sc. I, II and III years. Students interacted enthusiastically with the alumni and clarified their doubts regarding studies, competitive examinations, and future career paths. Overall, the program was informative, motivating and beneficial for the students. The interaction helped bridge the gap between current students and alumni and encouraged students to plan their academic and professional journey more effectively.

The State Level Winter School in Physics on “Optics & Electromagnetism” was organized jointly by the Physics Departments of Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Rajaram College, Kolhapur in association with the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), Sub Regional Council 08 D. The Winter School was conducted as per the scheduled academic timetable and included expert lectures, conceptual discussions and problem-solving sessions covering important topics in optics and electromagnetism. From the Department of Physics, two students of B. Sc. III Physics named as Miss. Ragini Pawar and Miss. Ashwini Singh actively participated in the Winter School. Both students attended the academic sessions regularly and were involved in conceptual learning as well as numerical problem-solving activities. Their participation provided them with deeper theoretical understanding and improved problem-solving skills in core physics concepts. In addition, Dr. V. S. Pawar was invited to assist the students during the numerical problem discussion sessions conducted as part of the Winter School. Dr. Pawar guided the participants in solving numerical problems, clarified doubts related to theoretical concepts and helped bridge the gap between theory and practical applications. His contribution significantly enhanced the learning experience of the participating students. Overall, the Winter School proved to be an academically enriching program for both students and faculty. The participation of students and the academic support provided by Dr. V. S. Pawar contributed positively to the success of the Winter School and strengthened conceptual understanding in optics and electromagnetism.

The Department of Physics, D. K. A. S. C. College, Ichalkaranji successfully organized a Guest Lecture on the theme “Celebrating 100 Years of Quantum Mechanics” on 30th December 2025 at Auditorium of our college as part of an academic initiative to commemorate a century of one of the most influential theories in modern science. The program aimed to enhance conceptual understanding among undergraduate students and to highlight the historical evolution, foundational principles and modern applications of Quantum Mechanics. The lecture was delivered by Dr. S. S. Patil, a distinguished academician and expert in the field of Physics, who has extensive teaching and research experience. The session began with a brief introductory address by Dr. V. V. Ganbavle, Head, Department of Physics, who welcomed the guest and the participants. In his address, he emphasized the importance of Quantum Mechanics in shaping contemporary physics, technology and scientific thought. The lecture was highly interactive and students actively participated by asking insightful questions related to conceptual foundations and real-world applications. A total of 41 students from B. Sc. I, II and III attended this lecture. The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. S. S. Kumbhar mam, acknowledging the valuable contribution of the guest speaker, the support of the college administration and the enthusiastic participation of students. The guest lecture proved to be academically enriching and a meaningful tribute to 100 years of Quantum Mechanics.

The Department of Physics, D. K. A. S. C. College, Ichalkaranji organized a Poster Presentation on 30th December 2025 as part of the celebration of “100 Years of Quantum Mechanics”. The event aimed to encourage students to visually present fundamental concepts, historical milestones and modern applications of Quantum Mechanics in a creative and scientific manner. Students from B. Sc. I, II and III actively participated in the competition by preparing informative posters on topics such as wave-particle duality, Schrödinger’s cat, save energy, Black hole and applications of quantum theory in modern technology. The competition provided a platform for students to enhance their conceptual clarity, creativity and scientific communication skills. The posters were evaluated by a panel of judges based on conceptual accuracy, clarity of explanation, visual presentation, originality and confidence during explanation. Participants confidently explained their posters and answered questions raised by Dr. S. S. Patil and Dr. S. V. Mulik reflecting their depth of understanding. After thorough evaluation, the results were declared as follows: Miss. Arya Ravan (B. Sc. I) secured the First Rank, Mr. Sajid Lodhe (B. Sc. I) secured the Second Rank and Miss. Revati Nilgare (B. Sc. I) secured the Third Rank. A total of 26 students participated in the competition. The overall quality of posters was commendable and the event successfully promoted peer learning and academic enthusiasm among students. The competition concluded with an appreciation of participants and judges. The Poster Presentation Competition proved to be an effective academic activity that strengthened students’ interest in Quantum Mechanics.

As part of the celebrations of 100 Years of Quantum Mechanics, the Department of Physics, D. K. A. S. C. College, Ichalkaranji, successfully organized an “Oration Competition” on 30th December 2025. The competition aimed to develop students scientific expression, public speaking skills and conceptual articulation in Physics. Participants delivered speeches on topics related to the historical development of Quantum Mechanics, contributions of pioneering physicists, philosophical implications and the role of Quantum Mechanics in modern science and technology. Students demonstrated excellent clarity of thought, confidence and depth of understanding while presenting their views. The speeches were evaluated by a panel of judges based on content accuracy, organization of ideas, language proficiency, confidence and overall presentation. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of B. Sc. I, II and III with 13 participants expressing their perspectives in a structured and Oration competition is evaluate by Dr. A. N. Patil sir (Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, DKASC College, Ichalkaranji). The audience benefited from diverse viewpoints and insightful interpretations of Quantum Mechanics. After careful evaluation, the results were declared as follows: Miss. Shivani Koli (B. Sc. II) secured the First Rank, Miss. Priya Khot (B. Sc. III) secured the Second Rank and Miss. Arya Ravan (B. Sc. I) secured the Third Rank. The Oration Competition successfully fostered scientific communication skills and inspired students to explore Physics beyond textbooks. The event concluded with the announcement of winners and appreciation of participants.

The Department of Physics, D. K. A. S. C. College, Ichalkaranji, organized a Quiz Competition (Kahoot!) on 31st December 2025 in celebration of 100 Years of Quantum Mechanics. The primary objective of the quiz was to reinforce conceptual knowledge, encourage analytical thinking and promote healthy academic competition among students. The quiz covered a wide range of topics including fundamental principles of Quantum Mechanics, important experiments, renowned physicists, mathematical formulations and real-life applications. The competition was conducted in multiple rounds such as objective questions making it both informative and engaging. Students from B. Sc. I, II and III participated enthusiastically, forming teams and displaying strong teamwork, quick thinking and subject knowledge. A total of 38 students participated in the competition. The event created an energetic academic atmosphere and significantly enhanced students interest in Quantum Mechanics. After the completion of the competition, the results were declared as follows: Miss. Chaitali Bargale (B. Sc. I) secured the First Rank, Mr. Tanmay Jadhav (B. Sc. I) secured the Second Rank and Miss. Ankita Walvekar (B. Sc. III) secured the Third Rank. The Quiz Competition concluded with the declaration of winners. The event was highly successful in achieving its academic objectives and served as an effective learning experience for all participants.

As a part of the academic curriculum of B. Sc. III Physics (Semester VI), student seminars were conducted with the objective of enhancing conceptual understanding, scientific communication skills and confidence in presenting physics topics using PowerPoint presentations. A total of 9 students actively participated in the seminar activity. The seminar topics covered important areas of physics, including Black Holes, Betatron (construction and principle), Geiger–Müller Counter, Miller Indices, Classification of Elementary Particles, Raman Effect, Superconductivity and Hubble’s Law. These topics span diverse branches such as Astrophysics, Nuclear physics, Solid-state physics, Crystallography, Particle physics, Optics and Cosmology. Students demonstrated a good understanding of the fundamental principles involved in their respective topics and used visual aids effectively. The presentations encouraged active interaction, improved confidence, and helped students develop analytical thinking and presentation skills. All students used PPT effectively and demonstrated satisfactory subject knowledge. The seminars encouraged interactive discussion and helped students strengthen their presentation and analytical skills. Overall, the seminar session was academically enriching and successful.

The Department organized a one-day study visit on 14th February 2026 for undergraduate students with the objective of providing academic exposure and practical learning through field observation. A total of 18 students participated in the visit, including 15 girls and 3 boys under the guidance and supervision of Dr. V. S. Pawar, Mr. S. D. Pathan and Dr. S. S. Kumbhar. The journey began early in the morning at 4:00 AM from the college campus. The travel route covered “Ichalkaranji-Kolhapur-Gaganbavda-Malvan-Devbagh-Sindhudurg-Ichalkaranji” allowing students to observe diverse geographical features, coastal ecosystems and historical locations along the Konkan belt. During the visit, students were given opportunities to explore the coastal environment of Malvan and Devbagh, understand the geographical significance of the Sindhudurg region and engage in discussions related to environmental awareness, tourism management and local culture. The faculty members provided continuous academic guidance and ensured discipline and safety throughout the journey. The visit proved to be informative, interactive and enriching helping students connect classroom concepts with real-world observations. After successfully completing the study tour and returning via the same route, the group safely reached back on 15th February 2026 at 1:00 AM. Overall, the study visit was well-organized and achieved its intended academic and experiential learning objectives.

The Department of Physics organized a guest lecture on 04th March 2026 on the topic “Career Opportunities in Physics”. The lecture was delivered by Dr. V. S. Sawant, Assistant Professor, Shivraj College, Gadhinglaj. The program was arranged for the undergraduate students of the Physics department with the objective of guiding them about various career options available after graduation in Physics. The introduction of the guest speaker was given by Dr. V. V. Ganbavle Sir (Head Department of Physics), who briefly highlighted the academic contributions and teaching experience of Dr. V. S. Sawant. During the lecture, Dr. Sawant discussed several important career pathways such as higher education in Physics, research opportunities, competitive examinations, teaching careers and opportunities in industries and government sectors. He also explained the importance of developing analytical and research skills for pursuing advanced studies. The session was highly informative and interactive. Students actively participated by asking questions regarding postgraduate studies, research fields, and job opportunities in Physics. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. V. S. Pawar, who expressed sincere gratitude to the guest speaker for his valuable guidance and for sharing insightful information with the students. Overall, the guest lecture proved to be very beneficial and inspiring for the students.
